How many times a week should I be practising pilates? 

​Consistency is key and it all depends on how you can balance between your everyday schedule, we highly recommend twice a week to see the difference. ​

What is the difference between contemporary and classic pilates?

Here at TRU Pilates our instructors have trained in either contemporary and classical or just classical. However, the studio offers a classical approach preserving the original method and using the traditional equipment designed by Mr Pilates himself.

What can I gain from doing pilates?

Pilates offers a holistic approach to health, combining physical fitness, mental clarity to create a balanced, strong and resilient body. Pilates has something to offer to everyone. Whether you’re a beginner, an experienced athlete or someone recovering from an injury, pilates can be tailored to suit your needs and goals.

What do I wear?

Comfortable, easy clothing ideally without any zips or anything that will be uncomfortable when lying down. You don’t have to wear grippy socks during the classes as it’s better for the movement and body connection.

Never done pilates before. Can I jump straight into class?

You can start the classes yes, however we highly recommend you to take the intro discovery package to help you understand the apparatus and the basic understanding of it.  From then, start the intro classes to slowly build yourself into the transformation the body will experience.

Can teenagers do pilates?

Yes teenagers can start Reformer Pilates, but it’s important to ensure it’s appropriate for their age level, physical development and experience level. Teenagers as young as 13 can start ideally intro to mat work learn the fundamentals and then move on to the Reformer.

Can I do pilates with a bad back?

Absolutely! Many people with back issues can benefit from classical Pilates, We recommend booking our discovery package which includes a Private one on one training session and one group class. At TRU Pilates, our experienced instructors are trained to assess your individual needs and limitations. They can modify exercises to ensure your safety and comfort while still delivering the benefits of classical Pilates. TRU Pilates emphasises core stability, which can help support your spine and alleviate back pain over time. Strengthening your core muscles can provide better alignment and reduce pain and strain on your back.

Do you offer packages? ​

Yes! We have the Discovry package, Intro Package and Block Sessions (which can be bought in 5, 10, or 15 classes).
